SAP Business One ‘s out of the box reporting capabilities are good. But, most of the time, only if you are a SAP B1 user. And I say most of the time because, sure, you could create some Dashboards and share it using the SAP Business One mobile app. But still, you will need a SAP user to have access to those reports.
So, let’s say that you want your managers and upper management to have access to insightful information on the go.
That makes a lot of companies look for BI tools that can connect to different sources of data. Including SAP Business One.
On this post I will show you how easy is to connect DOMO to SAP Business One.
DOMO comes with a software called DOMO Workbench. Once it’s installed on the SAP server (or, at least on the same network as your server), it’s just a matter of setup jobs that will pull information from the SAP Business One database and upload to DOMO’s private cloud.
As you can see, once you have the Workbench installed, all you have to do is:
- Setup an ODBC connection to the SAP Business One database;
- Add the SQL query that will pull the data (I usually use a View since that is easier to maintain);
- Give your Data Source a name;
- Schedule the frequency that you want your job to run (every X minutes for example).
Once the data is uploaded to your Domo instance, you will have access to that DataSet:
Now all you have to do is stat creating your Domo Cards (Dashboards). The interface to create them is incredibly simple:
Once you have the Domo Cards built, you just need to organize them within a Page and share them with your users:
Once you have your cards created, you can even see them inside the SAP Business One application. Just add a Browser and set it to your domo web address:
